The house, set on an acre of ground, was built in 1928 by a Christchurch lawyer who instructed his architect to build “an English gentleman’s stately residence”. Inspired by a visit to Italy, the architect excelled with his design including an impressive sweeping staircase, perfect for celebratory photos and truly stunning bridal shots. Although there were later extensions to the house with the addition of extra bedrooms, the house has always maintained its elegance, charm and air of quiet sophistication.
